In Fields Where They Lay is a play with music that tells the incredible true story of the World War I Christmas Truce – the spontaneous ceasefire between British and German soldiers that began with the singing of Christmas carols across No Man’s Land on the night of December 24th, 1914.

Partially based on the letters and diaries of real frontline soldiers, the play marks the 100th anniversary of the truce by bringing this stirring and unsettling, hopeful and tragic story to life in the words of the men who lived it.
